Abstract
Grave of wali or guardian is believed to be a quiet place, comfortable and "mustajabah" to pray. Through the process called "tawassul" guardian figure attached to the stories of miracles that will bring an optimism in prayer such as asking the Creator. It is different with puritanical group of Muslims who call this ritual as “bid’ahâ€. Some ritual of the grave no longer identical with the "abangan" in Clifford Geertz's trichotomy. Later pilgrimage even more often associated with "santri" were centered in mosques and pesantren. While the inclusion of elements add a festive tradition of pilgrimage tourism. The grave of wali be one of the tourist project that became the mainstay of the local government in driving the economy. So, grave of wali bring blessing for the local community.
Abstraksi
Makam atau kuburan wali diyakini sebagai tempat yang tenang, nyaman dan mustajabah untuk berdoa. Melalui prosesi yang disebut tawassul, sosok wali yang lekat dengan kisah-kisah karamah itu akan memunculkan suatu optimisme dalam berdoa; memohon kepada Sang Pencipta. Ini tentu berbeda dengan sangkaan kelompok muslim puritan yang menyebut ziarah kubur sebagai prilaku bid’ah. Aktifitas mendatangi kuburan juga tidak lagi identik dengan masyarakat “abangan†dalam trikotomi Clifford Geertz. Belakangan ziarah malah lebih sering dikaitkan dengan masyarakat “santri†yang berpusat di masjid-masjid dan pesantren-pesantren. Sementara itu masuknya unsur pariwisata menambah semarak tradisi ziarah. Makam-makam para wali menjadi salah satu proyek wisata yang menjadi andalan pemerintah daerah dalam menggerakkan roda ekonomi. Makam wali mendatangkan berkah tersendiri bagi masyarakat setempat.
