Signifikansi Zakat dan Wakaf sebagai Sektor Sosial Keuangan Islam

Abstract
The Islamic financial system covers the commercial and social sectors. Commercial sector is performed by sharia banking, sharia financing (BPRS), sharia capital market, sharia insurance, and other non-bank financial industries. While the social sector is played by religious social funds, especially zakat and waqf. The utilization of zakat funds and waqf assets for the development of social infrastructure contributes to reduce inequality, poverty and enhancing the human life quality and maintain the human dignity.
Sistem keuangan Islam meliputi sektor komersial dan sektor sosial. Sektor komersial diperankan oleh perbankan syariah, pembiayaan rakyat syariah (BPRS), pasar modal syariah, asuransi syariah, dan industri keuangan non bank lainnya. Sedangkan sektor sosial diperankan oleh dana sosial keagamaan, terutama zakat dan wakaf. Pemanfaatan dana zakat dan aset wakaf untuk pembangunan infrastruktur sosial berkontribusi mengurangi ketimpangan, kemiskinan serta mempertinggi kualitas hidup manusia dan menjaga harkat martabat kemanusiaan.
